Here, Luke and Pasco talk about their experiences establishing Dignity Platform, a space for people to hire services, share their skills, support others and donate, all in one place. As an up-and-coming service, they share the initial tribulations and successes of the last year and a half, what they’ve learnt so far and how they manage their uniquely democratic team structure.
I feel extremely lucky because since I was a teenager, I’ve been making films for inspiring organisations and projects around the world. But I also feel really frustrated because people who are skilled and really passionate about these causes are often reduced to a wallet and pestered for donations – as if that’s all we’re good for. I want to do everything I can to create more exciting opportunities for people to be part of solutions, not just revenues. We are all full of ideas, skills, dreams, gifts. And those of us who don’t realise we’re rich in all these things, need reminding. It’s easy to forget, in a world so obsessed with money and ego. I am motivated by our potential to create belonging in community for each other, to inspire one another into meaningful action, and to uplift our neighbourhoods through open minds and open doors. www.passionworksproductions.com
My passion for improving our planet was deeply inspired by a degree in Ecology & Conservation. Through careful observation of society, through a journalist lens, I learnt to change fundamental systems we must each change ourselves first; in the intention we give to an action. I recognize Dignity Platform to be the quickest way of alleviating the largest amount of global suffering, with the greatest of ease, while creating the highest amount of social value and cohesion. I have mainly put aside my photography career to follow this mission in fulfilling this World changing solution. www.jackpasco.com
